Even though the Easter Classic card has been moved from Lingfield Racecourse to Newcastle Racecourse this year, there is still a good all-weather card held at the former, which will also have races live on ITV Racing.
It is fantastic competitive action with plenty of runners over from both Ireland and France. Adrian Wall has picked out three outsiders who should run a big race at a big price on Friday afternoon. He is in terrific form with his ITV Outsider picks of late.
Bless Him (10-1) will find this a much tougher assignment than the handicap he won here over 7f in March, landing a gamble in the process. Nonetheless, there is plenty of pace guaranteed here which will suit him down to the ground. Jamie Spencer will bide his time and wait for the gaps to appear. The bird may well have flown by then but if they go hard, he will finish off best of all.
Tom Marquand is back aboard Edraak (14-1) which is no bad thing and this horse always goes well fresh. He has won all three starts off the back of a three-month or more absence so you can bet your life that he will be fit and ready to go. The former course and distance winner won four times last year and also finished fifth in the Ayr Gold Cup. He’s a good hardy horse and will enjoy the straight track.
Golden Warrior (20-1) is turning into a bit of a Kempton specialist as two of his three career wins have come there but he’s not without hope in this. He beat Resilience there last September, a runner that has gone on to win three times since, and he didn’t seem to enjoy going left-handed as much when third at Lingfield in March. He is worth a chance on a straight track.
