There’s plenty of action to look forward to on Saturday as Glorious Goodwood comes to a close. The first six races are joined by two from Newmarket live on ITV. We’ve selected three more outsiders to consider as they could be overpriced. This includes a 66-1 shot as well as 20-1 and 14-1 hopes. Treacherous (20-1, bet 365) looks very well handicapped on the best of his form. Ed De Giles’ eight-year-old won this race back in 2020 off a 4lb higher mark. Only beaten by a neck when third at Windsor two starts ago and is now 1lb lower. He clearly has it in him to run a big race here as long as he can put it all together.
Golden Flame (66-1, William Hill) finished second to Valley Forge at Haydock four starts ago, only being beaten by a neck. That rival is 4lb worse off under these conditions and is a fraction of this selection’s price. Golden Flame actually beat that rival off levels in September so this looks like a crazy price. This gelding isn’t the most consistent but at these odds, it’s easy to take a leap of faith.
Viola (14-1, William Hill) was very unlucky in defeat when second to Sea La Rosa in a Group 3 at Haydock two starts ago. The jockey gave her far too much to do and she stumbled in the final furlong. On that evidence, the step up to 1m6f should bring about some improvement which would put her bang in there. She seems to stay well but doesn’t quite have the gears for 1m4f so we can expect a big effort over the extra two furlongs.
