It’s Day 4 of Glorious Goodwood on Friday and we’re back with three more outsiders who’ll be live on ITV. Tuesday’s Goodwood outsiders yielded a 14-1 winner in the shape of Lord Riddiford and we’ll once again be aiming to provide some each way value. These selections are currently available at 33-1, 33-1 and 20-1. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.
Winning a flat race over such a specialist distance such as this extended 2m4f takes a certain kind of horse. Author’s Dream (33-1, bet365) is a winner at a trip in excess of 2m2f so fits the bill perfectly. Despite performing mostly on the all-weather, he is a two-time winner on turf. His last win came off this mark at Southwell three starts ago which suggests he’s capable of a big performance. As he wasn’t beaten far in a bunched finish in this race two years ago, the track shouldn’t pose a problem.
Lawful Command (20-1, bet365) is defending a 100 per cent record here having won two handicaps here in his first two starts of the season. Brian Meehan’s gelding has progressed into hotter handicaps and ran a nice race in the Britannia at Royal Ascot. He may well have plenty more to give and is capable of giving a good account of himself off this mark of 91.
This is a competitive nursery and the type of race which Charlie and Mark Johnston tend to do well in. Jungle Fever (33-1, bet365) looks tailor-made for handicaps and looks dangerous here having been dropped 2lb for finishing third at Musselburgh last time. His dam won over 6f so there’s every chance that stepping up to that distance for the first time will suit. Being a winner at Brighton is a good sign that he could cope with the unusual track here at Goodwood.
