Course form can be absolutely crucial when looking for a winner. If you know your way around a place, you are going to have an advantage over somebody who has never been there before. The same applies to horses – knowing your way around a venue is always a big advantage. Adrian Wall has picked out three former course winners running live on ITV Racing on Saturday. The treble returns tasty odds. Best of luck if you have a play.
Latitude produced a career best performance when bolting up over course and distance last May, and a return to this track will certainly suit the frontrunner. He disappointed at Cheltenham on seasonal return, but ran a great race in defeat at Ludlow when last seen which should put him spot on for this test. He looks a bit of value at current odds.
Paul Nicholls has won three of the last four runnings of the Grade 2 Silviniaco Conti Chase, and last year’s winner Pic D’Orhy has solid credentials once again. He was gifted the race when Shishkin refused to race at Ascot when last seen, but still did all he was entitled to do. He didn’t have a hard race and is two from two at this track.
Without doubt an unlucky loser last time out at Cheltenham, Grey Dawning is out to make amends and the former course winner could be up to doing so. He already has the beating of Apple Away on the form book, and Broadway Boy is still a young chaser up against older horses. Skelton’s runner is the most solid option.
