‘It could be a great day for him’ – Mick Appleby Wolverhampton Lucky 15 🍀

There’s a competitive six-race card at Wolverhampton on Wednesday afternoon. Mick Appleby runs four and it could prove to be a great day for him. He’s ticking along with a solid 22 per cent strike-rate in the last fortnight, which is useful considering the volume of runners he has had. All four have solid chances so with that in mind, we’ve combined them into a Lucky 15. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

1.40 Wolverhampton

Richard R H B (9-2, bet365) hasn’t been with Appleby for very long. The best of his efforts came here over an extended mile and he was denied by just half-a-length when finishing second. Now down to the same mark as that day and all four of his career victories have come at Wolverhampton, including three at this trip. Rossa Ryan is an eye-catching jockey booking.

3.15 Wolverhampton

Fast Style (3-1, William Hill) put in a huge performance to win on debut for this yard and in his first start for 186 days. Carries a 5lb penalty for that narrow win but you’d have to think there’s more to come. Lightly raced and progressive on the Flat, he’s two from three in handicaps and seeks the hat-trick here. It’s highly unlikely that he’s been exposed by the handicapper just yet.

3.50 Wolverhampton

Politics (11-8, William Hill) has had just four starts for this yard, winning twice and finishing second once. This includes a win last time out over 7f at Lingfield. Now has a 5lb penalty as a consequence but he’s clearly progressive. The Horse Watchers are very good at what they do and this looks like another shrewd purchase.

4.25 Wolverhampton

Jupiter Express (6-4, William Hill) won here over 7f two starts ago so was disappointing over the same course and distance on Monday. Raced keenly that day and faded as a result which suggests the drop back to 6f might suit. Tom Marquand has been booked and he’s capable of leaving that effort well behind him.
