‘Is his money down?’ – JP McManus runner backed from 9-1 into favourite at Cork

Our resident horse racing man Adrian Wall has always been an avid market watcher. He has spotted a pretty large ongoing gamble taking place at Cork Racecourse today. Our free horse racing tips are also available every single day and we have been in good form the past month. Let’s take a closer look at the big gamble in more detail below.

It’s always worth keeping an eye out for a JP McManus gamble on a Saturday, and it’s interesting that a flurry of money came for Weihnachts in the 2m4f Easyfix Handicap Chase, a race the horse won last year.

He opened up 9-1 last night, but that didn’t last long and he is currently trading at top price 3-1 and is as short as 5-2 in places. The 10-year-old is now 1lb lower than when successful in this contest last year so he is back down to a very winnable mark.

Weihnacht’s recent efforts don’t inspire too much confidence. He was beaten a long way at Fairyhouse on Hatton’s Grace weekend last month, but his penultimate start was encouraging, travelling well for a long way over much further at Fairyhouse in November and eventually finishing third.

Connections might have been targeting this race since he won it last year and market signals would suggest that’s the case. The son of Beat Hollow only has five rivals to beat this year, and he will receive weight from the entire field.

The main danger might be recent Limerick scorer R’evelyn Pleasure who won with authority over the Christmas period. Best of luck if you have a bet and remember to bet responsibly.
