Irish trainer sends one runner over for Cartmel’s feature race on Monday ⛴️

Stuart Crawford likes to send his horses over to Britain and does so regularly. The County Antrim-based trainer has had one winner in Britain so far this season but had 20 winners in total during the last campaign. He sends just one runner up to Cartmel in Cumbria on Monday, a track at which he had a winner last season. The horse in question is an interesting and unexposed sort and he goes in the £35,000 feature race of the day. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

2.55 Cartmel

Langdale Lane has had just five starts over hurdles so far and only one of those has come in handicap company. Finishing second over an extended three miles at Ayr’s Scottish Grand National meeting last time out, that was a competitive race for the grade. He shaped as if the extra furlong here would be right up his street. The handicapper has responded with a 2lb rise which seems fairly reasonable and it shouldn’t be too restrictive.

Already a winner over hurdles, he got off the mark at Ayr on his penultimate start back in February. The form of that one-length win has been boosted by the second, who went on to win its next start. Langdale Lane had previously struggled in a couple of Irish maidens but appears to like it over in Britain.

Champion Jockey Brian Hughes has been booked for the ride and that looks like a particularly positive move. There should be loads more to come from this horse, who would have learnt plenty from the experience last time out. Connections will be hoping to grab some prize money, in order to justify the trip over to Britain.
