Irish trainer sends first ever runners on the 580-mile round trip to Southwell

New County Dublin-based trainer Stephen Thorne is yet to have a runner but that is set to change on Thursday. Thorne is sending his first ever runners over to Southwell and it’s a substantial 580-mile round trip. We’ve had a good look at the chances of his two runners and it would appear that one has substantially better prospects than the other. Shamrock Breeze certainly isn’t short of experience and the juvenile filly has already had eight starts. She was an easy of Down Royal maiden back in June and a repeat  of that performance would surely give her every chance here. This doesn’t appear to be the deepest of novice races and it provides a great opportunity to return to winning ways.

Previous connections didn’t come home empty-handed when sending her to France in August, as she was beaten a head back in second. Her final start for Jack Davison was a little disappointing when considering her best form, but she surely has every chance here if you can forgive that.

Hightimeyouwon has a significantly higher rating on the all-weather and there were signs of a return to form at Dundalk earlier this month. He had to overcome a slow start but kept on nicely to finish third and perhaps could have threatened more with a sharper break.

This vastly experience eight-year-old has seven career wins to his name, five of which have come on the all-weather. The most recent of those came at Dundalk in March and he races off the same mark here. More recent form suggests he has a bit to find but he’s not without a chance.
