Irish trainer makes 1,027km round trip to Musselburgh with 2 runners on Monday

BORN FOR WAR Ridden by Brian Hughes wins at Musselburgh

An Irish trainer frequenting Musselburgh is not a strange occurrence. Well known trainer Gordon Elliott has sent six runners to the track, resulting in three wins. This is the first time Kildare-based trainer Ross O’Sullivan will send runners to the Scottish track. He won’t travel 1,027 kilometres just for the fun of it so both runners are of serious interest. Below, we take a look at the runners in more detail. We are in red-hot form at present so make sure you check out our daily horse racing tips for today.

1.15 Musselburgh

Seven-year-old gelding WESTERN SEA was last seen running a respectable 6th of 13 runners at Thurles. He led for much of the race that day, arguably doing too much too soon over the 18f trip. It must be noted that he travelled well for a long way and hit a low in running of 3.8 on the exchanges. The drop back to two miles will without question be in his favour but he will run off a 4lb higher mark here. First-time cheekpieces are applied and he has a squeak in a competitive affair. He has won on good and heavy in the past so the ground won’t be an issue.

2.25 Musselburgh

This is another competitive little affair and his runner THEATRE WORLD definitely has a chance. The eight-year-old contested a fiercely competitive handicap hurdle at Navan when last seen and finished 6th of the 18 runners. He chased home the smart Isle Of Destiny at Down Royal over fences last December. That horse has since gone on to contest Listed races. He was smashed off the boards at Fairyhouse on his next start but could only muster up third. He certainly has some decent form in the book and it would be no shock if he was well supported for this contest.
