The big race of the day on Sunday is the Irish Cesarewitch and Adrian Wall has picked out two horses who are in with a chance. Best of luck if you follow and remember, always bet responsibly. Dermot Weld has hit a rich run of form the last few weeks and I think the price available at the time of writing this piece is madness. Falcon Eight won the Chester Cup with ease last year, and he is only 3lb higher in the weights now. However, he is effectively 4lb lower as top apprentice Jamie Powell takes off a very valuable 7lb in the plate. This horse won over hurdles earlier in the year, and finished fifth in his follow up bid in the Chester Cup. Kept busy since, this has surely been the main target for connections and we know he stays.
Jessica Harrington’s Taipan was a running on fifth at Killarney over 1m6f when last seen. Killarney is a notorious front runners track and it’s a place where it is very difficult to win from behind, so it was a very eyecatching run. Taipan has only had one run over this kind of trip and that was at Galway in the Connacht Hotel handicap, but he did too much early and got swallowed up late on. Still unexposed over extreme distances, he is worth a bet at the prices off the back of that run in Kerry.
