In-form Heffernan bids for Cork success after Sunday’s 5,277/1 treble

Seamie Heffernan has been riding out of his skin in recent weeks and that was headlined by a remarkable 5,277/1 treble at Naas on Sunday. Wins aboard Chief Little Hawk (22/1), Passion (7/2) and Sweet Gardenia (50/1) gave Heffernan a red-letter day in County Kildare.

There could be even more success to come, however, as the Irishman rides four at Cork on Tuesday. We’ve assessed all his chances, and if you’re convinced, you can add all four of his rides to your betslip below!

1.15 Cork – Baton Rouge

If the market is to be believed, this should be a slam dunk for Heffernan in the first. Baton Rogue is a beautifully bred son of Galileo and a full brother to Classic winner Magician. He’s run well in a pair of starts thus far, latterly when third at the Curragh.

He’s achieved plenty in his two racecourses visits compared to his rivals and it’s no surprise to see him in the market at odds-on. You’d be very disappointed if he was unable to break his duck in such a weak contest.

1.45 Cork – Agent Zero

Showing little in his first seven starts for Denis Hogan, Agent Zero took a step in the right direction when fifth at Roscommon earlier this month. Falling twenty-two pounds below his opening mark, he’s clearly on a dangerous rating if everything comes together.

There is some early market confidence behind him and a strongly-run should suit on the best of his juvenile form. He handles softer going and any further market support should be noted.

3.15 Cork – Chocquinto

Breaking her maiden at the third attempt, Chocquinto powered home to cause a 150/1 shock at the Curragh last month. Highly-tried in a Premier Handicap since, she was down the field off a pound higher.

She has her sights lowered for today’s outing and she remains promising after just the four starts. A return to softer ground may help matters and she should be granted a strong enough tow into the race. It would be no surprise if she bounced back with a better effort.

3.50 Cork – Unanswered

Showing some minor ability in three starts for Dermot Weld, Unanswered makes his debut for Tony Martin today. He makes his handicap bow off a very low rating and he should improve for the switch into this sphere.

Given his 160,000gns initial price-tag and smart breeding, he should be capable of far more with further experience. This isn’t the strongest of races on paper and he encounters softer ground for the first time. With those factors in mind, he could feasibly be going close.
