Ian Williams sends one runner on the 622-mile round trip to Musselburgh

Ian Williams trains in the Worcestershire area and doesn’t tend to send too many runners up to Scotland. He has in fact only had three runners at Musselburgh in the last five years so it could be significant that he sends one up there on Tuesday. Williams has an excellent strike-rate at the track so you may want to add this one to your notebooks. Take a look at our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

3.00 Musselburgh

This is Musselburgh’s feature race and there is £30,000 on offer for the Class 2 1m1f event. Silent Age is set to line up for Williams and there are plenty of reasons to be confident. The four-year-old returned to winning ways with a cosy success over 1m2f at Sandown when last seen and it’s hard to argue with a 6lb rise on that evidence.

He began his career with Charlie Appleby and got off to the perfect start, winning a Kempton maiden in January 2o24. This son of Dubawi then followed up impressively under a penalty in novice company, before disappointing in a Listed race. It took him a while to get to grips with handicaps for this yard but his performance last time out was definitely encouraging.

Williams is winless from three runners here in the last five years but his career course strike-rate of 29 per cent is very healthy indeed. Five of his 17 runners have been winners and it’s easy to make the case that Silent Age can add to that tally. Yard form is a slight concern however, as Williams has only had one winner from his last 34 runners before Monday.
