‘I think he’s got a right chance’ – Lucinda Russell thinks her horse will win on Saturday 😳

Lucinda Russell

Lucinda Russell won a second Grand National last weekend with the amazing Corach Rambler, and she thinks that she has a great chance of success in the Scottish version on Saturday. You will be able to find all of our free horse racing tips on the website for the weekend and they will include tips for the Scottish Grand National and tips for Ayr Racecourse.

Quotes from the trainer

Russell said: “It would be amazing to win again. I remember when we won it two years ago it was still behind closed doors and we really missed the crowd so to do it in front of a full house would be fantastic.”

Derek Fox, who rode Corach Rambler last Saturday, will ride Your Own Story, and Mighty Thunder will be ridden by 5lb claimer Patrick Wadge. Russell said: “They’ve both got legitimate chances. Your Own Story is a novice, Scu always says they have a good record and presumably that’s because they’re improving. I still think he’s well treated by the handicapper. The big thing is going up in distance – he’s very much a stayer and the four miles will make him even better treated. The race should suit him.”

When asked about her outsider Mighty Thunder, she said: “I think he’s got a right chance. We tried him in the Grand National, that didn’t happen for him and then things didn’t really fall right for him. It’s taken a season for him to find his feet again but he’s been improving with each run and this is the first time we’ve got the right ground for him. The distance is right and as an each-way bet he’s got a huge chance. He’s come down in the weights and Patrick gets another few pounds off.”
