‘I think compensation awaits for loyal followers’ – July Cup big-race verdict 🕵🏽‍♂️

Oxted wins the July Cup

We are treated to a feast of racing live on terrestrial TV on Saturday with a total of 11 races live on ITV Racing. Those races come from Newmarket Racecourse, Ascot Racecourse and York Racecourse so we are in for a flat racing treat.

The big race of the day is without question the July Cup and our resident man Adrian Wall is here with his big-race verdict for the race. He thinks there’s a foreign challenger who will take the spoils so let’s take a look at what horse that is.

4.25 Newmarket

We have to wait until later in the day for the feature but it should be well worth waiting for. It goes without saying that the best of the Australian sprinters are better than our bunch in Britain and Ireland at present. Jamie Spencer met trouble in running when third aboard Artorius in the Platinum Jubilee at Ascot when last seen but I think compensation awaits for loyal followers.

What about a longshot tip in the race?

I really like Artorius for win purposes but I think the Japanese raider is far too big a price to ignore at around 33s. King Hermes was sixth of 18 in the NHK Mile at Tokyo when last seen, his first crack at Group 1 company. He was up with the pace from the off and although he did see out the trip, this drop back to 6f will be massively up his street. The fast ground will also be very much to his likely so he is likely to outrun his odds in this for me.
