Hugely promising Willie Mullins horse 12-1 for Grade 1 Glory on Sunday

There’s a top drawer card at Fairyhouse on Sunday which features three Grade 1s and two very competitive handicaps. One of Willie Mullins’ runners in the Grade 1 Royal Bond Novice Hurdle is available at massive price at time of writing. A major bookie is offering 12-1 that the horse in question goes on to win. Willie Mullins was particularly bullish about this horse in his stable tour so may have a better chance than this price suggests. 1.25 Fairyhouse

The Royal Bond is an important marker on the Irish Jumps calendar as it’s a key early-season test for novices. Ashroe Diamond (12-1, bet365) is a horse that Willie Mullins is very much looking forward to this season. It certainly isn’t idle trainer chatter either as she has shown plenty of evidence on the track which suggests she could go all the way.

This mare dominated the Grade 2 mares’ bumper at Aintree in the spring, winning by an easy six lengths. Her fourth-place finish at Leopardstown the time before that is somewhat misleading as she was only beaten by three-quarters-of-a-length despite not placing. She was short of room three furlongs out and lost momentum as a consequence.

Lost her hurdles maiden tag at the first time of asking when last seen at Naas. It was a comfortable enough victory against the boys and she should improve plenty for it. Mullins was very confident when discussing her in his stable tour and he explained how delighted he was with her. The big season target for this horse is the mares novices’ hurdle at Cheltenham but she could make her presence felt against the big boys here en route.
