Horses for courses: Three previous Wincanton winners to look out for on Thursday

Previous course form is always an important factor to consider when trying to pick out winners. Although there are never any guarantees, horses with proven records at certain tracks must have an advantage. With this in mind, we’ve selected three previous winners at Wincanton that are set to return on Thursday. These include two horses with 100 per cent records and one whose three best efforts have all come at Wincanton. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

1.45 Wincanton

Universal Secret has won twice during his career so far and both victories have come here at Wincanton. Added to that, his sole second-place finish was also at this track. The last of his two wins came back in March, off a 4lb lower mark. On that evidence, he should be capable of running a big race once again, despite an underwhelming effort last time out.

2.15 Wincanton

Baby Shally got off the mark at the first time of asking over hurdles, here on her penultimate start. It was a hard thought victory and she got the better of an impressive last time out winner by a narrow margin. Anthony Honeyball’s six-year-old was fifth under a penalty at Huntingdon when last seen and she could get closer this time around.

2.45 Wincanton

Dartmoor Pirate is another one for Anthony Honeyball and this gelding was a comfortable winner on his hurdles debut over course and distance. He bumped into a useful prospect when second at Huntingdon next time and won’t find anything of that calibre here. This looks like a winnable race and it’s difficult to envisage him not being in the mix.
