Horses for courses: four Wolverhampton specialists to do the business on Friday 💼

All of the all-weather courses in Britain tend to have horses who excel at one of the tracks more consistently than the others. Wolverhampton is no different so we’ve picked out four horses with proven records at the Midlands course who are well placed to run big races. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

5.30 Wolverhampton

Baby Steps (4-1, William Hill) has a solid record here at Wolverhampton as three of his four career victories have come at the Midlands track. The last of those wins came in October off a 4lb lower mark. Ran a cracker when second in a similar race over course and distance last time out and was unfortunate to bump into a well-handicapped horse. Provided that doesn’t happen here he can return to the winners’ enclosure.

6.00 Wolverhampton

Base Note (11-8, William Hill) is yet to finish outside of the first two in four starts here, winning twice. He’s not always the most consistent of horses but he does have plenty of ability. The handicapper whacked him with a 6lb rise for his comprehensive victory by almost five lengths at Kempton last time out. A repeat of that effort will see him go all the way here.

7.00 Wolverhampton

Sammy Sunshine (25-1, bet365) has a 100 per cent record here at Wolverhampton, winning her only start which came back in March. Two disappointing efforts followed but she’ll have undoubtedly been freshened up after a lengthy break. Makes her debut for a new yard and if fit enough, can return to form in a big way.

7.30 Wolverhampton

Crocodile Power (6-1, bet365) seems to like it at Wolverhampton, having won or placed in three of his four starts here. His sole win here came over course and distance two starts ago. Things didn’t work out when upped to a mile at Southwell last time out so the return to 7f will suit this horse well.
