Course form is one of the most important factors to consider when trying to a pick a winner. If a certain horse tends to perform better at specific tracks, it gives them a bit of an advantage in the race. With this in mind, we’ve picked out four horses running at Market Rasen and Southwell on Tuesday who have proven records at their respective tracks. Peejaybee has had three previous starts at Market Rasen and has won their twice, giving him an enviable strike-rate of 67 per cent. His only below-par effort at the track came on seasonal and chasing debut last time out. He’s entitled to improve for the run and may well have finished closer that day if not for a couple of errors at the business end of the race. Trying three miles for the first time here, there’s evidence in his pedigree that the trip will suit.
Charles St finished a distant second in a juvenile hurdle here at Market Rasen back in February. Fergal O’Brien’s charge went one better when relishing the step up in trip to win cosily over course and distance last time out. A 5lb rise seems more than fair and another huge run should be on the cards. It also helps that O’Brien is Market Rasen’s top trainer so far this season.
Morlaix is yet to finish outside of the first three in three starts at Southwell. His sole victory at the track came back in February 2021 and it was a comfortable one. David Simcock’s seven-year-old was narrowly denied here over 1m3f and off an 8lb lower mark on his last start at Southwell in March. A repeat of that effort will surely put him right in the mix.
Gulliver is a vastly experienced veteran with a 67 per cent strike-rate at Southwell. He was a very comfortable winner here over 6f in September and currently finds himself on just a 2lb higher mark. David O’Meara’s 10-year-old was a fair third off 1lb higher last time out and a return to winning ways could be on the agenda.
