Horses for courses: Ffos Las specialists to make a splash on Sunday 🌊

Ffos Las Racecourse

It takes a certain type of horse to win at Ffos Las at times. There’s a saying I like to go by which is ‘there’s heavy, then there’s Ffos Las heavy. When the ground is testing there, it’s unlike any other track in the country. At time of writing, the going is currently soft, heavy in places. With showers expected, the ground is unlikely to dry up. Bearing this in mind, we’ve picked out three course specialists with proven records at the track who should relish returning to Ffos Las. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

Easy As That lived up to his name on bumper debut here. Venetia Williams’ gelding ploughed through the heavy ground to score by four lengths. He then backed that up with an even more impressive win by 13 lengths at Musselburgh. Didn’t respect his hurdles very much but did manage to get off the mark and score by nine lengths on his third and final start. A 639-day lay-off is no small obstacle to overcome but he should love conditions and make a much better chaser than hurdler.

2.15 Ffos Las

Alminar is a course and distance winner, said victory came back in February 2019. His course record stands at one win and one place in three starts. The gelding has now joined the Evan Williams yard, a stable which are no strangers to winning at Ffos Las. Having won at Chepstow by five lengths on heavy ground off this very mark back in January 2020, a big run could be on the cards.

3.20 Ffos Las

Arcade Attraction loves it around here with two wins and a place in his four starts at the track. The most recent of these wins came in April off a 1lb higher mark. Back down to 102 here and should absolutely be making his presence felt. Both course wins came over fences and this his first start here over hurdles. Last won over hurdles off this very mark at Ludlow and a huge run is expected.
