Horse with form figures 0UU08-0U0 backed from 40-1 into 18-1 at Tramore 😳

There’s another classic Irish gamble unfolding at Tramore as one runner’s price has capitulated throughout the morning. The horse in question was available at a massive 40-1 last night. Bet365 are top price at 22-1 currently but they’re boldly standing alone as the other major bookies offering 18-1. With his recent form figures reading 0UU08-0U0, you would have to wonder where the money is coming from. Connections may be in the stewards’ room explaining the improvement in form if this comes off and it’ll undoubtedly be fascinating to watch this unfold. 6.00 Tramore

The Paul Hennessey-trained Falcon Park (18-1, William Hill) is the subject of this huge gamble. The six-year-old gelding is yet to place in eight starts over hurdles and has unseated in three of those. For most people, another incompletion seems more likely than a win but the money is coming nonetheless.

This is the gelding’s chase debut which wouldn’t usually fill you with confidence bearing in mind his sketchy jumping record. You couldn’t ask for a more in-form pilot to take the ride though, as Danny Mullins has two winners from his last three mounts. Danny also likes it here with 17 winners in the last five years, making this his fourth most successful track.

Tramore is a sharp track so the tactics may well be to try and steal the race from the front. Perhaps the extra furlong will inspire some improvement and the fences may make him respect his obstacles properly. It’s fair to say more is needed but the price collapse suggests someone believes it’s forthcoming.
