Horse who has shown absolutely nothing smashed from 40-1 into 7-1 at Dundalk 🤔

Ireland is the home of big gambles with many a gamble landing and even more falling down the years. There’s a standout gamble occurring at Dundalk on Wednesday which baffles the mind. One horse has seen its price capitulate since yesterday evening. That in itself isn’t strange but the fact that it has shown nothing whatsoever so far is perplexing. Having been 40-1 yesterday evening, the best available price for the horse in question is now 7-1. It’s difficult to see where the money is coming from but its certainly interesting. 4.15 Dundalk

Shimmerz (7-1, bet365) is the subject of this unusual gamble. Trained by Charles O’Brien, the four-year-old filly has had just four career starts to date. All four of her starts came under the tutelage of Darren Bunyan and this is her debut for the O’Brien yard. She requires some excellent training from O’Brien to unlock something we’re yet to see from her.

Her debut at Roscommon wasn’t much to write home about as she finished eighth and was over nine lengths behind the winner. It was an even worse performance at Fairyhouse next time, finishing 15th of 18 and by a margin of 16 lengths. Two starts at Dundalk followed and we still haven’t seen any signs of ability from the horse.

This is her handicap and stable debut which are the only two factors that could explain any sort of confidence at all. 46 really is a basement mark which is perfectly justified on the evidence at hand. The draw hasn’t been kind to her either as she has been given the widest possible draw out in 13.

Sustained support is continuously coming in however and it’ll be fascinating to see the outcome of this major gamble. There will be plenty of eyes on Dundalk at 4.15 on Wednesday afternoon.
