‘Her trainer doesn’t waste ammunition’ – 33/1, 25/1 and 14/1 ITV Outsiders on Friday

Muntahaa and Jim Crowley winning the Ebor at York 2018

Newmarket’s July Festival continues on Friday and the ITV cameras are showing six races from Newmarket and York. There are plenty of each-way opportunities on offer across the six races so we’ve picked out three horses that look significantly overpriced. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

1.50 Newmarket

Candle Of Dubai (33/1, Paddy Power) is very lightly raced and she was incredibly consistent in three starts over 1m2f in novice company. Charlie Johnston’s filly was an impressive winner at Chelmsford on her penultimate start, which meant expectations were high on handicap debut. Things didn’t go to plan and the 1m4f trip proved to be beyond her so we’re willing to forgive her with that in mind. She’s definitely capable of better and more is expected now back down to 1m2f.

2.25 Newmarket

Fiery Lucy (14/1, William Hill) represents the Gavin Cromwell yard and her trainer doesn’t waste ammunition. That’s especially true with his small crop of Flat runners and she could certainly surprise a few here. The form of her impressive success in maiden company at Fairyhouse has been boosted by the second who has won since. Royal Ascot runner-up Mighty Eriu might be the yard’s first string but Fiery Lucy certainly isn’t without a chance.

2.40 York

Pandora’s Gift (25/1, William Hill) remains lightly raced and she’s progressed at a rapid rate thus far. She bolted up in a Listed race at Chelmsford in May and was therefore disappointing at Royal Ascot. That performance wasn’t an accurate reflection of her ability and it’s easy to put a line through. Stuart Williams’ filly deserves another chance to prove herself on turf and she could be overpriced.
