‘He would be the one’ – Aidan O’Brien tips 16-1 star for Triple Crown glory 👑

Aidan O’Brien has a strong crop of three-year-olds to go to war with this season. Ballydoyle’s master is a genius and when he speaks; you listen. He made some strong comments with regards to one of his three-year-olds that he thinks very highly of as we go into the new campaign.

No colt has won the British Triple Crown since Nijinksy in 1970. Winning the 2000 Guineas, Epsom Derby and the St Leger is a monstrous achievement. O’Brien has singled out one horse that could have the potential to do it. Paddy Power are offering 16-1 for the horse in question to get the job done. ‘Ryan was raving about him’

Auguste Rodin has definitely caught the eye of his trainer, who said: “If we have a horse who could do that, he would definitely be the one.” A son of Deep Impact, he won the Group 1 Vertem Futurity Trophy at Doncaster as a juvenile, despite the ground going against him. O’Brien added: “We nearly didn’t run him at Doncaster because of the ground as he’s an exceptional mover. He’s very slick, a very long, very low mover. Everything went wrong in the race and he still won.”

His trainer expects him to perform at a high level, across various distances and the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket in May is the starting point. O’Brien also said: “He is the type that could start in the Guineas and stretch out in trip after that. He was always very classy, always. I remember Ryan [Moore] riding him in work as early as last February, as a two-year-old, and he was even raving about him back then.”

It’s difficult to ignore this level of praise from a man who has seen many champions come through the doors of Ballydoyle. Auguste Rodin is currently 4-1 for the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket in May and just 11-4 for the Derby at Epsom in June.
