‘He means business’ – Frankie Dettori’s 92-1 Doncaster double on Wednesday 😍

Frankie Dettori is yet to ride at Doncaster so far this season and he makes the trip to Yorkshire on Wednesday. One would expect this is a significant move as it’s Day 1 of the St Leger meeting. The Italian will be seeking to hit the ground running before the final classic of the season on Saturday. Both of Dettori’s mounts are available at fair odds, making the double a very attractive price. 92-1 is not to be sniffed at and it could be worth taking a punt. Mo Celita (15-2, William Hill) is a winner at Listed level having scored at Deauville over 6f in 2021. She also beat some useful horses home when fourth in the Prix de l’Abbaye in October. The likes of Suesa, Winter Power and Romantic Proposal were behind her that day which reads very well.

This season has been a different story however. Adrian Nicholls’ filly needs to bounce back after three below par efforts so far this campaign. Her best efforts in France came with ease in the surface so the softer ground can inspire a return to form as although the going is currently good, there is plenty of rain forecasted before the race.

Dettori has already landed a good prize aboard Forest Falcon (10-1, William Hill) when taking a valuable Goodwood handicap in July. That was a hot handicap and he won in good style, being eased down at the line.

A couple of disappointing efforts followed and he was far too poor to be true at York last time. Charlie and Mark Johnston’s horses are liable to return to form at any time and this gelding shouldn’t be discounted. This is the first time Dettori has ridden him since Goodwood which could well be a positive omen.
