‘He is an absolute monster’ – Liam Bramall with five Cheltenham Festival 2023 tips 📆

The Cheltenham Festival is over for another year which also means the jumps season is coming to an end. The good thing about Cheltenham is that as soon as it’s over the discussion starts for the following year. With this in mind, I’ve picked out five horses for the Cheltenham Festival in 2023 that I have my eye on.

Arkle Novices’ Chase

State Man couldn’t have been any more impressive in the County Hurdle. His inexperience was a massive obstacle to overcome as the large field and the hustle and bustle of fighting for a position can be too much for green horses. He travelled into the race with ease and won with plenty in hand. This was probably a case of a graded horse running in a handicap and as such, I’d love to see him line up in the Arkle.

Champion Hurdle

This is going to seem rather obvious but depending on what happens at Punchestown, Constitution Hill’s already skinny price might get a bit skinnier. This is a freak of an animal and we’re unlikely to see a more dominant Supreme winner. Owner Michael Buckley has touted the possibility of taking on Honeysuckle at Punchestown and it would be some race.

Best available price: 9-4

Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle

American Mike might not possess the speed which his Champion Bumper conqueror Facile Vega does but he did prove that he has quite an engine. If he was to line up in the Ballymore next year he would surely have a great chance. He’ll definitely improve for going over obstacles and stepping up in trip so this race looks perfect for him.

Best available price: 10-1

Turners Novices’ Chase

Jonbon is a fine specimen that is absolutely built for fences. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see him improve significantly over the larger obstacles and up in trip. This logically seems to be the best target for him although the one concern would be his trainer’s unwillingness to step his horses up in trip. He’s available at double figure prices and that’s probably the best you’ll get as he’ll only shorten.

Best available price: 12-1

Ryanair Chase

Galopin Des Champs is currently a point shorter for the Gold Cup than he is for this race but his exuberant running style isn’t compatible for a race of that nature. Taking on stablemate Allaho would make some race and I think the younger horse would have his measure. Galopin Des Champs – he is an absolute monster.

Best available price: 6-1
