‘He has shown nothing in three starts’ – Horse backed off the boards at Clonmel 🎯

Our resident horse racing expert Adrian Wall has always been an avid market watcher. He has spotted a pretty large ongoing gamble taking place in the 2.18pm at Clonmel Racecourse today. Don’t miss out on our posts on Twitter @myracingtips where you can message us directly and have your say. Our free horse racing tips are also available every single day and we have been in good form the past month. Let’s take a closer look at this big gamble in more detail below.

2.18 Clonmel

This is a pretty weak maiden hurdle and it is very interesting that a horse has been backed from 12-1 all the way into 4-1 for the race this morning. Trained by Louise Lyons, the lightly raced EN AVANT is the horse that has seen significant market support. Someone out there is confident that this runner has more than a winning chance today.

En Avant has had just three starts under rules. The six-year-old was pulled up in a Tipperary bumper, was beaten 37 lengths behind Journey With Me in a Naas novice hurdle and then was well beaten off at Wexford in a bumper earlier this month. Obviously, the strongest piece of form on offer is the Naas race where he finished behind four quite smart horses.

One might have thought that he would be a handicap project but now going back over hurdles in what is a considerably weaker race, he wouldn’t need to find a lot of improvement on that Naas run to play a part in the finish. He is one of the least exposed runners in the field and is not to be underestimated.
