The quality racing comes thick and fast during the summer months and Newmarket’s July Festival is next on the agenda. With three excellent days of racing to look forward to, there’s plenty of Group action and some very competitive handicaps. Liam Bramall has picked out an ante-post selection for each day and these include an Aidan O’Brien-trained juvenile on Day 1. Brussels (3/1, bet365) saw his race out well to win a maiden at the Curragh on debut and the form is working out well. The second and third have both won since and Aidan O’Brien clearly has an excellent crop of juveniles this season. He has been utterly dominant in the two-year-old department and that’s expected to continue. This son of Wootton Bassett is entitled to progress and will go close if doing so.
Bedtime Story (11/2, bet365) looked exceptional when winning the Chesham Stakes last season but hasn’t hit the heights that many expected. Getting back on track when second in the Prix de Diane, a quicker start could have made the difference. She has a big race in her and victory would be no surprise here.
Symbol Of Honour (4/1, bet365) has had a busy season so far and began the year with a couple of wins in Meydan. He produced a career-best performance to win the Sandy Lane and that form gives him every chance. Charlie Appleby has an excellent record at the July Course and his recent form bodes well.
