It has been a fantastic week at York but now cameras head to a fantastic card at Newbury Racecourse for ITV Racing. This card is particularly interesting because Jim Crowley, one of the world’s leading flat riders, has some outstanding rides on Saturday.
Crowley is no stranger to big-day success and has racked off multiple winners on Saturday’s plenty of times in the past. His book of rides this weekend looks extraordinarily strong and his best five form a monster accumulator.
Ehraz finished second to Noble Truth at Newmarket on debut, a Godolphin runner who was subsequently second in a French Group 1 and bolted up in a Listed contest in April. The selection won a fast ground maiden at Ascot on his second start, and he ran better than the third of four would suggest when behind Go Bears Go and Hierarchy at Ascot last month. More to come.
Eshaada won on debut over the extended mile at Nottingham and followed up quickly in Listed grade over 1m2f here at Newbury last May. Went on to finish second in the Ribblesdale which looks like very strong form now, and although she ran a shocker in the Yorkshire Oaks, she bounced back to win the Group 1 Fillies’ & Mares’ Stakes at Ascot in October. The one to beat on her return.
Israr won his maiden at Doncaster over 1m (from worked out very well) back in September before finishing second to Wind Your Neck In at Salisbury, conceding weight to a good horse on the day. Had a pleasing return to action stepping up to 1m2f for the first time when third to Educator at Newmarket in April and there should be more to come.
Baeed is a majestic colt who extended his unbeaten run to six with victory in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot over 1m in October, defeating a smashing horse in Palace Pier in the process. The dual Group 1 winner has nothing of his calibre to worry about on his return to action and can get his season off to a flyer.
