It’s the final day of York‘s Ebor Festival on Saturday and there’s also a good card at Goodwood. There’s some very competitive action live on ITV which means there will be plenty of each-way opportunities. With this in mind, we’ve selected four outsiders that can outrun their prices. These include a 40-1 shot for the Ebor, York’s £500,000 feature race of the day. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.
Elegant Madame (20-1, William Hill) was a narrow winner on debut at Lingfield last time out. A couple of the horses in behind have boosted that form by winning since. She’s entitled to improve plenty for that run and it would be no surprise if she runs a big race here.
Pogo (33-1, William Hill) hasn’t been in the best of form so far this season but he possesses plenty of ability. Charles Hills’ seven-year-old has won at this meeting before, scoring in a competitive handicap over a mile back in 2019. Second in this race last year, if he can reproduce that level of form, there’s every chance he’ll be in the mix.
Euchen Glen (40-1, Paddy Power) is a veteran of the game and the 10-year-old has plenty of excellent form in the book. He returned to form with a good third behind Sweet William over this trip at Goodwood last time out and is 4lb better off with that rival here. On the form of that run it’s difficult to understand the price variation between the two and Euchen Glen could surprise a few by turning the tables.
King Of Bavaria (33-1, bet365) has been a bit hit and miss since joining the Mick Appleby yard. He did win off this mark over 5f at Windsor back in May however. This ex-Ballydoyle inmate wasn’t beaten far when second over 6f at Newcastle back in February. It’s also worth noting that he won a nursery for Aidan O’Brien off a 1lb lower mark over this trip and should be very competitive here.
