Hatton’s Grade Day 2023: Three Willie Mullins runners to watch out for at Fairyhouse

Wille Mullins has some decent chances on opening day.

Punters will be treated to a spectacular day of racing on Sunday as Hatton’s Grace Day 2023 is nearly upon us. It’s going to be a cold bitter day at Fairyhouse, but the top class action should warm the bodies up.

No less than 13 subsequent Grade 1 winners came out of this day of racing last year, which is quite incredible, along with a National Hunt Chase winner, a Grand Annual winner, and a Galway Hurdle winner too.

This promises to be a hugely informative day of racing and it’s one where you need to get the notebook out. Let’s take a look at three Willie Mullins runners to watch out for this Sunday.

Drinmore Novices’ Chase (2.00)

At the ripe old age of 10, Sharjah has come to life over fences, winning a beginners’ chase at Galway by 11 lengths before following up in a Grade 3 at Tipperary by 12 lengths in October. He might not have the legs to compete with the best around in March, but he should be fully fit for this assignment.

Hatton’s Grace Hurdle (2.35)

The unbeaten Impaire Et Passe, touted as the only horse who could potentially serve it up to Constitution Hill at present, returns in the feature race. The Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle winner also went on to easily land the Champion Novice Hurdle at Punchestown, and he could be a dark horse for this season’s Champion Hurdle.

2m Maiden Hurdle on Saturday (12.50)

Moving to the day previous, all eyes will be on Ballyburn, one of the leading contenders for the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle at Cheltenham in March. A perfect two from two in bumpers at Punchestown last season, he could be anything.
