Good Friday ITV Outsiders: Owen goes for glory with 40-1 & 20-1 tips

Lingfield Park Racecourse

We all love a long weekend and Easter is a big chance to put our feet up and relax. With some fantastic racing in store, I’ll be leaving the relaxing for another time! Lingfield hosts All-Weather Championships Finals Day on Good Friday and it’s going to be a cracking day of competitive racing.

We’ll have ITV Racing Tips for all the action, but as usual, I’ve gone hunting for some exotic prices. I’ve found a pair of outsiders with above-average claims of out-running their fancy odds. Find all of my analysis and selections below.

3.10 Lingfield – Gulliver (20-1)

A strong early pace seems almost guaranteed in this six-furlong dash and that will suit GULLIVER down to the ground. He’s not always the easiest to predict, but he’s talented on his day, winning the Coral Sprint Trophy at York last season. His form has been sporadic in 2021, but a pair of runs over seven furlongs are best ignored.

His most recent third at Kempton is the run to focus on. He tanked into a race where it paid to be prominent and after taking a while to get going, he finished a close-up third off top weight. Make no mistake, he’ll need them to go hard early and the gaps will need to be forthcoming given Lingfield’s sharp nature, but both those playing out in his favour are more than feasible.

The draw has been no help, but as a horse who is likely to be dropped out, it shouldn’t be too much of a negative. At 20-1, he’s a horse who’s extremely interesting, especially with several bookmakers offering four places.

3.45 Lingfield – Water Of Leith (40-1)

With three places on offer and the front three in the market taking such a big share, there’s some juicy prices in this contest. WATER OF LEITH is the one who stands out to me, having won two of his four starts for Jim Goldie. Although disappointing on debut, he rattled off a pair of novice successes subsequently, latterly over Warrior Brave over Christmas who has subsequently boosted the form.

His price is likely indicative of his disappointing run in a three-runner race over course and distance last time. That effort is forgivable, however, as he was very unruly in the preliminaries and then was held up in a tactical affair. He’s capable of much better today and a change of scenery to Rebecca Menzies is interesting, given the formidable form of the yard in recent weeks.

With a more straightforward run to the start and a stronger pace to aim at, he looks set to put his best foot forward here.
