Gavin Cromwell sends one horse on the 630-mile round trip to Huntingdon

Meath-based trainer Gavin Cromwell is well able to train a winner at the highest level, and it has to be hugely interesting that the handler will send one horse on the 630-mile round trip to Huntingdon Racecourse on Thursday. Let’s take a look at the horse in more detail below, but you can also find all of our free horse racing tips on the website too.

3.10 Huntingdon

The feature race on the card at Huntingdon on Thursday is the Listed Pertemps Network Lady Protectress Mares’ Chase which is run over just shy of 2m4f, and Gavin Cromwell’s Brides Hill heads the market. Cromwell won this race last year with Jeremys Flame so he certainly knows what’s required, and his mare might be up to the task here.

Brides Hill won a mares novice chase at Listowel in September before winning after a break on Hatton’s Grace Day at Fairyhouse in December, defying a mark of 140 in handicap company. She travelled powerfully through her race and just held on, but the worry would have to be the fact the form of that race hasn’t worked out well at all.

Despite that, Brides Hill is a former winner at this level, having won a Listed chase at Thurles last season, and she was also second to the classy Allegorie De Vassy at Thurles in a Grade 2 last term, so she does have some good form in the book.

Make no mistake, she might not have it her own way here. If Lady Adare of the Harry Fry yard can bounce back to form after a poor outing at Exeter, she could be the value in the race.
