Rushmore (9-2, bet365) hasn’t been in the best of form since switching to Chelsea Banham’s yard, having been trained by Andrew Balding previously. There hasn’t been much to shout about which makes the sustained market support rather fascinating. Back from a break, connections will be hoping that 157 days off the track will revitalise him.

His best effort for this yard came on stable debut over course and distance in October 2021. That effort came off a mark of 72 so if he’s capable of returning to that form, winning this would be easy. Now rated 49 however and it has been a prolonged decline since. Hope springs eternal however and there must be some out there who believe this horse will get his head in front.

One thing which is definitely in his favour is how weak this race is. Classified Stakes races are some of the lowest grade racing we have to offer. With that in mind, if he is to gain his second career win, this is a fantastic opportunity. There’s also the chance that now he’s more familiar with his surroundings at the Banham yard, he can find his form.
