Gamble alert: Naas runner backed off the boards on Monday 😱

Naas Racecourse

There’s a huge gamble underway at Naas on Monday. A runner in the apprentice handicap was available at 40-1 last night and has been smashed in to 12-1 through the course of the morning. It’s also worth noting that the horse in question is 10-1 in places. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

We’re On The Way is sliding down the handicap which has clearly gained the attention of some punters. Ross O’Sullivan’s gelding is yet to win a race in 10 starts but the further he slides down the weights, the more interesting a proposition he becomes.

The gelding’s best performance so far came at Navan four starts ago where he finished third off a mark of 57. Having faded in the final furlong over an extended 5f it’s a surprise to see continued support for him over a stiff 6f. His current mark is 2lb lower than that so if returning to that level of form, he could well feature at the business end of the race.

Despite having plenty to prove, his popularity in the market has been sustained throughout the morning. It wouldn’t be the first surprise gamble to be pulled off in Ireland and it’ll be interesting to see how this one plays out.
