Gamble alert: JP McManus horse has halved in price at Navan this afternoon ☘️

Our resident horse racing expert Adrian Wall has always been an avid market watcher. He has spotted a pretty large ongoing gamble taking place at Navan Racecourse today. Our free horse racing tips are also available every single day and we have been in good form the past month. Let’s take a closer look at the big gamble in more detail below.

4.10 Navan

Expelliarmus is a half-sister to Common Practice, who won on the Flat at 1m4f and over hurdles at two miles. The daughter of Churchill is trained by Joseph O’Brien and is trained by the shrewd owner JP McManus.

As ever with anything owned by McManus, the money usually tells the tale and it has to be significant that this horse has been backed from 16s into 8s this morning, and there could be more money to come for it.

This filly finished ninth of 14 behind Nightcliff at the Curragh on debut but she was clearly just out for some experience on the day. One would expect her to improve significantly from first to second start, as is the case with most of O’Brien’s Flat runners.

O’Brien has 39 winners on the board already in 2023, with a strike rate of 15 per cent, and he has trained 29 runners at Navan in the last few years which is a healthy return. He really is a top trainer and is following in his father’s footsteps nicely.

This is a weak enough fillies’ maiden and the combination of the step up in trip and better ground is likely to see this filly run a big race today surely.
