Gamble alert: JP McManus horse backed from 14-1 into favourite at Navan

3.55 Navan

As we all know, JP McManus loves to have a big punt on his own horses now and again and he may well have a good few quid on Park Of Kings in this 80-102 rated handicap hurdle today. Trained by Paul Nolan, this horse has seen significant support all morning, as big as 14s at one point and now as short as 7-2 favourite in places.

McManus has two runners in the field so it was a guessing game as to which one the money would come for. Park Of Kings has shown very little form since his debut, when third behind Doctor Bravo in a Fairyhouse bumper last December. That winner is a very smart horse who has run at the top table so to be only three lengths behind him that day looks like good form.

It is also worth noting that behind him that day was Nick Rockett of the Willie Mullins yard, who has won all three starts since including a Grade 2 at Fairyhouse, while the fifth has gone on to win both of his starts since, the sixth has won since, as have the seventh, eighth, ninth, 10th and 11th! This McManus horse could be thrown in off his current mark of 95.
