Gamble Alert: Horse smashed from 20-1 into 9-2 at Dundalk on Friday

Dundalk Stadium

Our resident horse racing man Adrian Wall has always been an avid market watcher. He has spotted a pretty large ongoing gamble taking place at Dundalk Racecourse today. Our free horse racing tips are also available every single day and we have been in good form the past month. Let’s take a closer look at the big gamble in more detail below.

3.37 Dundalk

It’s the first race back on the all-weather at Dundalk this year and trainer Luke Comer is trying to get the new year off to a great start with John Alexander, who has been smashed from 20-1 into 9-2 in the opening apprentice handicap, with some firms as short as 10-3.

This horse is frustrating in the main, but he won this corresponding race 12 months ago and is now 2lb lower in the weights, so if he can bounce back and reproduce that level of form, he could prove hard to beat in this contest.

Luke Comer wouldn’t have the healthiest of strike rates which would be a concern for backers. The handler only had five winners from 203 runners at the track last year, but someone at the yard must really fancy the chances of John Alexander this afternoon.

A field of 16 look set to go to post for what looks like a very competitive handicap on paper and he is looking a very short price now, so it’s up to you to decide whether the current price is still worth backing.

There’s every chance that the horse could win this race again and the gamble is interesting, but it wouldn’t surprise us if he drifted back out to a bigger price come the off.
