Gamble alert: Horse backed from 80-1 into 10-1 in places at Clonmel

Our resident horse racing man Adrian Wall has always been an avid market watcher. He has spotted a pretty large ongoing gamble taking place at Clonmel Racecourse today. Our free horse racing tips are also available every single day and we have been in good form the past month. Let’s take a closer look at the big gamble in more detail below.

5.25 Clonmel

Running in the final race on the card today, the two-mile handicap chase, bottom weight Ventnor has seen significant market support all morning. This horse was as big as 80-1 last night, but has been backed into 10-1 in places. The biggest price anywhere at present is 18-1 with bet365.

Ventnor is still a maiden after 21 starts but he ran well for a long way on bottomless ground when seventh at Limerick last week. Turned out again quickly, connections clearly feel he has an even bigger run in him and if this doesn’t come too soon, then he might have an each-way squeak in what is an open and competitive contest.

The son of Morpheus ran a career best here at Clonmel over smaller obstacles when third here in February. Both of his placed efforts have come on soft or heavy ground so he clearly enjoys the mud and, receiving weight from the entire field, with the aid of a good 5lb claimer to boot, there won’t be much weight on his back that’s for sure.

Now the price is long gone, you have to decide whether there is enough juice in his current price to warrant a bet, but best of luck if you do decide to have a punt.
