It’s always a good idea to keep an eye on what the betting markets are doing as you can learn plenty from doing so. We like to keep you informed about the daily market movers and there’s a significant one at Doncaster on Thursday. The horse in question is trained by Ben Pauling and was as big as 25-1 on Wednesday evening but sustained market support has seen its price capitulate. This could be one to keep an eye out for throughout the day. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.
Not At Present is the subject of this gamble and there are a number of reasons to be positive about his chances. Pauling’s gelding won four times over hurdles back in 2021 but is yet to translate that form to the larger obstacles in two starts over fences so far. This horse clearly possesses enough ability to win chases and he’s certainly unexposed in this sphere.
He was beginning to weaken when taking a tumble four out at Newbury last time out but you can forgive that effort. As it was his first start for 543 days, he was more than entitled to need it. Plenty of improvement can be expected here and he should be much sharper this time around.
His chase mark is 8lb lower than his hurdles one and connections should be able to take full advantage. Beau Morgan takes 5lb off as well and that leaves him on a very nice mark indeed. It surely won’t be long before he’s winning races over fences and market confidence suggests this could be the day.
