It’s always a good idea to keep a close eye on the betting markets, as we can learn plenty from doing so. There are never any guarantees in this game but we can get a good idea about the level of confidence behind a horse’s chances. We like to keep you informed when there’s a major market mover of note and that’s the case on Thursday. One runner at Bellewstown was initially available at 28/1 and is now as short as 8/1. Here we take a look at the horse and consider who the main dangers could be. Take a look at our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.
Stiorra remains a maiden after seven starts and has struggled badly in handicap company. The handicapper is beginning to respond however and she can now run in lower grades such as this. Her best effort came in a Beverley novice for previous connections and she finished third, beaten by two lengths. A reproduction of that form would certainly help her chances of getting off the mark here.
There are more likely winners in the field but the sustained market support has come from somewhere so ruling her out could be dangerous. Merchants Arch and Undefeatable head the market currently and rightfully so.
Both finished third last time out but Undefeatable is arguably the better choice of the two. Eric Lock was a winner on his penultimate start and should appreciate the longer trip, after disappointing over shorter when last seen. Whilst there are no world-beaters in the field, it’s a competitive race and an interesting puzzle.
