The cost of simply getting a horse to the races continues to rise and long distance travel is particularly expensive, for obvious reasons. That means when three southern-based trainers are sending runners all the way up to Hamilton in Scotland, it’s worth taking note. Archie Watson, Roger Varian and Mark Usher are all sending runners up north so we’ve combined their representatives into a Lucky 15. Blue Nguru has a fairly smart pedigree and she ran well on debut at Goodwood, eventually finishing third by a length. A little too keen in the early stages, she would have learnt plenty from that experience and it’s reasonable to assume that the daughter of Blue Point will take a step forward here.
Willingly has won six times throughout her career and she has certainly been around the block a few times. Mark Usher’s mare returned to form with an excellent second at Chepstow last time out and was only denied by a neck. Tom Kiely-Marshall continues to take 5lb off and she’s entitled to go close once again, running off the same mark.
Fahrenheit Seven may not be fully exposed yet and he has an excellent record on turf. He won a fiercely competitive race at Pontefract back in April and is currently on just a 4lb higher mark. The trip may have beaten him over 7f at Newmarket last time but he still ran well back in fourth. Back down to 6f now, you wouldn’t want to rule out another big run.
Indalo won his first two starts and both came in novice company at Newcastle. He was a respectable third of five on handicap debut at the same track next time but disappointed at Nottingham after that. The handicapper has since dropped him 2lb however and he’s lightly raced enough in handicap company to suggest there could be more to come.
