Fergal O’Brien sends two runners on the 794-mile round trip to Perth on Tuesday

Fergal O’Brien is a trainer in good form at the moment, with seven winners from 31 runners in the last couple of weeks. A 23 per cent strike-rate is certainly healthy and he’ll be hoping that the good form continues on Tuesday. Training down in Gloucestershire, he’s set to send two runners all the way up to Perth. It’s a 794-mile round trip and connections won’t want to come home empty-handed. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

Keep Tabs On You cost €70,000 at the sales and made his debut in a heavy ground bumper at Ayr on debut. He got a little outpaced at a key stage before keeping on again and only just failed to grab second. That effort showed significant promise and the five-year-old goes hurdling now.

His debut effort suggested that the step up to 2m4f will suit in this sphere and his half-brother also won over the trip. The best is surely yet to come and he’s entitled to be in the mix here.

3.00 Perth

Tripoli Flyer looked very useful in bumpers and even finished second in graded company at the Aintree Festival a couple of years ago. O’Brien’s gelding confirmed that promise as a novice hurdler last term and progressed nicely to win the Grade 2 Dovecote Novices’ Hurdle.

Punchestown was perhaps a bit too much for him, or rather Willie Mullins’ Final Demand was, as he was a distant third. Sticking to his task well nonetheless, that form suggests he should be far too good for this field. The son of Getaway can make the perfect start to life over fences by winning here.
