Double gamble alert: Southwell pair smashed in to 7-4 and 11-4 on Tuesday 👀

There’s a couple of interesting developments at Southwell on Tuesday morning. Two runners who have been available at 7-1 have been backed into 7-4 and 11-4 favourites. You may want to keep a close eye on these as this develops throughout the day. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

Gunnerside‘s current industry best price is 7-4 and many are quite a bit shorter. Grant Tuer’s charge was available at 7-1 on Monday evening but sustained market support has collapsed the price. His backers will be hoping for a return to form as he hasn’t shown too much of late. Put in his best effort since July 2021 when a four-and-a-half length seventh at Wolverhampton last time out.

The six-year-old’s last victory came at Carlisle eight starts ago off a mark of 72. Having now slipped to a mark of 60, a return to the winners’ enclosure certainly isn’t out of the question. It’s likely that we’ll need to see more in order for that to happen but the market would suggest it’s forthcoming.

7.00 Southwell

Master Zoffany is the second of Southwell’s best backed horses. Richard Fahey’s gelding was also available at 7-1 on Monday evening and can now only be backed at 11-4 with two firms. The rest of the industry is shorter which speaks volumes for the strength of the market support. He won nicely at Wolverhampton two starts ago, beating re-appearing rival Tothenines by two lengths.

It was a flatter effort again at Wolverhampton when a three-length fifth off this same mark. On the evidence of that effort, he would need to find more here as he got no help from the handicapper for that latest effort. His older form suggests a win is a reasonable possibility and he’s massively unexposed on an artificial surface.
