2.10 Newbury

David Evans is a very shrewd operator and he knows how to set up a gamble, that is for sure. He is also well known for having his first time out runners ready to go. Evans will run Breeze Easy in this race and the Bated Breath filly has been smashed in this morning from a high of 16-1 all the way into a current price of 6-1.

She was a 30,000 guineas yearling and was picked up for £240,000 as a two-year-old, so to pay that sum for her would suggest that they think a lot of her. She is a full sister to the 1m-1¼m winner Deep Snow and will appreciate a step up in distance in time but today could well be the day.

The other interesting runner and possible biggest danger in the field is Banshee. Connections of this horse have booked Frankie Dettori for the ride which could be ominous. She outran her 40-1 odds at Goodwood on debut when a close-up third and is likely to come on plenty for that effort. Dettori would only take up decent rides now at his age so it would be no shock to see her win.
