Windsor is a particularly unusual course which doesn’t suit every horse. Therefore, previous course form can be crucial when making your selections. With this in mind, Liam Bramall has picked out four runners on Monday evening to consider. When combined they form a monster 494-1 accumulator. Spring Bloom (11-4, William Hill) has barely run a bad race here. In five starts he has finished in the first two four times including a cosy course and distance victory last time out. The handicapper has subsequently put him up 6lb for that win. This five-year-old is going the right way and he can’t be written off at this track. Another big effort is expected.
A Sure Welcome (5-1, William Hill) has been a regular here over the years. With three wins and seven places in 15 starts, he certainly loves the track. The handicapper didn’t go overboard when putting him just a pound for his course and distance win two starts ago. John Spearing’s gelding payed for a slow start over course and distance last time out and a quicker start break brings him right back into it.
Special Envoy (5-6, William Hill) is defending a 100 per cent record here having won a novice event here in June. He makes his handicap debut here off a very stiff opening mark of 92. The very useful Benoit De La Sayette takes off 5lb which should be a big help. Was comfortably beaten when second at Newbury last time but the front two look smart and finished well clear of the rest.
Sanitiser (11-1, William Hill) is also defending a 100 per cent record here and has better chance than his outsider status suggests. Paul and Oliver Cole’s gelding is down to mark just 1lb higher than when winning a decent nursery at Newcastle. Ran well at Salisbury last time in a good race and the 2lb slide down the handicap combined with the drop in grade should suit.
