It’s another big day of ITV racing on Sunday as all seven races from Newmarket will be televised so it’s set up to be a belter of a day for horse racing fans. The day is made even more interesting by the fact a very expensive son of Frankel will make his debut in the opener! Read on to find out more about the horse in question.
The opening 6f novice was won by Ancient Truth last year and Charlie Appleby’s colt has gone on to win a Group 2 since and go down narrowly in the Dewhurst last October. With that in mind, the stable must think an awful lot of Treanmor and he should be up to making a winning debut under William Buick.
Purchased for a staggering €2 million at Goffs last October, this son of Frankel has an imposing pedigree. His dam Loch Lein won over 6f at two and won a 7f Listed contest (RPR 106) before placing a couple of times in Group 3s. She’s a sister to 5f-1m winner Pedestal, and is closely related to 5f 2yo/6f winner Full Authority, who is a half-sister to 7f/1m winner Oliver Show, out of a half-sister to a US 1m1f Grade 1 winner.
Treanmor will be expected to get off to a winning start here and that’s going to be reflected in the price. Whether you feel his opening price of 4/7 is backable or not is up to you, but it will be disappointing for connections if he isn’t up to the task here. Start Me Up and Vlad are the most interesting of the others.
