Cheltenham Festival Tuesday Outsiders: 66-1 Gordon Elliott horse far too big a price 🤞

The Cheltenham Festival is finally upon us and us national hunt fans are like kids at Christmas. There is nothing better than that sweet roar in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle and we don’t have much longer to wait. Adrian Wall has highlighted his outsiders for Day One on Tuesday and as ever, only ever bet what you can afford to lose.

1.30 Cheltenham

Sporting the famous Al Boum Photo silks, Bring On The Night is not to be underestimated in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle. He won two of his three starts for Andre Fabre on the Flat when trained in France and was very impressive on hurdling bow for Willie Mullins. Far from foot perfect, he certainly has a big engine and he quickened away from the last like a very good horse. There could be plenty of improvement to come.

2.50 Cheltenham

The Ultima Handicap Chase is a race that nearly always goes to the British but I think the Charles Byrnes-trained Doctor Duffy has an each-way chance. He was third in a Kerry National from an Irish rating of 145 so could potentially be well treated running off that mark in Britain now. Often a horse that flatters to deceive, he ran well in a Pertemps qualifier over hurdles at Leopardstown and was running a good race in the Grand National trial at Punchestown in February when a bad mistake cost him.

4.50 Cheltenham

Three of the last five winners of the Boodles Juvenile Handicap Hurdle had a starting price of between 33-1 and 80-1 so it is certainly a race that can throw up a surprise. I can’t see how Doctor Churchill can be such a large price given the yard. Trained by Gordon Elliott, he won twice on the level for David Evans. He finished ahead of the re-opposing Brazil when fifth at Punchestown in November but is five times the price of that runner in this. He is not to be underestimated off a mark of 133.
