British trainer sends first ever runners to Dundalk aiming to land monster double

Trainer George Boughey will make the long journey from Newmarket in England all the way over to Dundalk Racecourse in Ireland on Friday with two runners. These will be his first ever runners at the track which is interesting but there are some nice pots on offer. Both races are Listed class and both are for two-year-olds.

Given his record with juveniles this year, it is no surprise to see him have a crack. Jamie Spencer, who is over in Ireland at Bellewstown for the race in honour of Barney Curley on Thursday will stay on to ride both of his runners.

5.15 Dundalk

Sassy Rascal came from a very uncompromising position to power to the front late on at Lingfield last time out. It was a breathtaking turn of foot in the closing stages under a brilliant William Buick ride. This is obviously a much tougher assignment but the form of that race has worked out well with the second and fifth winning subsequently. She could be the perfect ride for Spencer who likes to ride a horse with restraint. Dundalk takes a lot of getting so it could set up nice for a finisher.

6.45 Dundalk

As mentioned already, George Boughey has an exceptional record with his two-year-olds this year and Dirtyoldtown is another potential star rising through the ranks. He was backed as if defeat was out of the question at Chepstow last time out and quickened clear to win by five and a half lengths. He could be anything and he has the perfect pitch in stall three. Jamie Spencer rides so the slight concern here would be that Jamie drops him out in rear, which would be an error after being gifted a dream draw. He will hopefully settle him in fifth and sixth and make his challenge late.
