Britain’s hottest Jumps trainer sends just one runner to Uttoxeter on Tuesday 👀

Ben Pauling has been in red-hot form during the last fortnight. The Gloucestershire-based trainer has had 11 runners in that time, with six of those winning. This 55 per cent strike-rate makes him the hottest Jumps trainer in Britain at the moment.

Pauling is set to send just one runner to Uttoxeter on Tuesday and it has to go under consideration. The horse in question is set to make its debut for the yard. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

7.40 Uttoxeter

Gambie Tiep makes his debut for the Pauling yard here, having switched from Sarah-Jayne Davies’ yard. It’s fair to say he struggled for his previous trainer and plenty of improvement is necessary on the evidence of his six starts whilst there. His best effort for that yard came over hurdles at Worcester in October, when a 10-length third off a mark of 90.

Perhaps his best effort over the larger obstacles came at Newton Abbot last June, where he was fourth on just his second chase start. Pauling’s charge has only tasted victory once and that was in a French bumper back in 2021. Clearly his new trainer has plenty of work to do to get this horse into the winners’ enclosure.

This seven-year-old returns to fences for his stable debut here. The handicapper has dropped him down to a mark of 75, which is 10lb lower than when last seen over the larger obstacles. If Pauling can get him to repeat the form of his two best efforts, he would have an excellent chance of shedding his maiden tag here in Britain as this is a very winnable race.
