Big-race Verdict: find out who the myracing experts fancy for the King George

Covert Love winning the Irish Oaks

‘She is two from two at Ascot’

Wonderful Tonight is an insulting price for the race and could do the business. David Menuisier’s filly without doubt would prefer some cut in the ground but her sire Le Havre was second in a Group 1 on good to firm so there is hope that she will handle it. The forecast could also change – rain is forecast so there could be some juice in the ground. She is two from two at Ascot, winning the Group 1 Fillies’ & Mares Stakes here last October before winning the Hardwicke on her return. – Adrian Wall

‘This task should be far more suitable’

This is a fascinating renewal of the race, with a strong pair of three-year-old horses taking on their elders. At the current prices, I’m inclined to side with Mishriff, whose sole previous run at twelve furlongs resulted in him winning the Sheema Classic. He was disappointing in the Eclipse last time, but he was too keen in a muddling affair and this task should be far more suitable. Lone Eagle will help ensure an honest gallop and with ground conditions fine, even if the rain arrives, he looks majorly overpriced in my eyes. – Owen Goulding

‘It’s difficult to look away from the favourite’

With a few absentees in the King George, the field has been somewhat obliterated. Of the six that remain, it’s difficult to look away from the favourite Love. She comes into the race off the back of a win in the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes at the Royal Meeting, but a return to her Oaks trip from last year should certainly suit. Her closest rival is likely to be Derby winner, Adayar, who has an 8lb age allowance in his favour. – Toby Corkin

‘Love is a tentative selection’

A race that revolves around how much of the forecast rain falls. 19mm changed the ground from good to firm to soft and eventually 26mm to heavy at Royal Ascot. The 10-13mm in the forecast suggests there will be at least some good to soft in the description. Love is a tentative selection with that in mind although the more that it rains, the better it will suit Wonderful Tonight who rates the forecast link. – Matthew Newman
